It will undoubtedly help me get around some of the problems I've encountered, especially sound. My A21p came preloaded with W98SE. Also, I bought my Redhat CDs from Cheapbytes.com. They included updates up to the date of transcription, so I may have avoided some of the usual problems with RH7. One problem that I did encounter, and fixed with help from the thinkpad forum, was with the display turning white and the machine freezing at various times in X Windows. I've got this pretty much solved by installing X 4.0.2 from XFree.org. I still had an occasional freeze, but solved that by removing all the display managers (gnome and KDE), letting the X install overwrite all configuration files, and then reinstalling display managers. Good luck and thanks for a fine document Don A -- Donald B. Altman SingularTechnologies Bellevue, WA
